Merlin – Male in Texas
Cane Corso | Crate Trained | House Trained | Female Dog Safe | Kid Safe 15+
Merlin, formerly known as Comanche, is Carmen’s sibling and joined CCR requiring extensive veterinary attention. Unfortunately, their owner faced financial challenges during the pandemic, leading to homelessness and living in their car with both dogs. Collaborative efforts from CCR supporters and another rescue organization facilitated temporary lodging for the owner and dogs in a hotel. This allowed the necessary veterinary care for the dogs, including spaying/neutering and cherry eye repair. However, Carmen and Merlin both require additional surgery for their cherry eyes, and support through donations for Carmen’s post fundraiser is appreciated.
Merlin is seeking a foster or foster-to-adopt family to assist him through his next procedure. He is 4.5 years old (born in December 2019), a bit rough around the edges, but very affectionate. Potential caregivers should be committed to continuing his training and socialization. Families with older children and one other large female dog will be considered, as Merlin has not been around small dogs or cats and shows a high prey drive. Experience with the breed is preferred. Updated photos featuring his completed eye surgery will be shared soon.
Cane Corso Rescue is in urgent need of foster homes to assess these dogs, ensuring they receive proper vetting and align with their current bios.
