Poppy – Female in Ohio

Cane Corso | Crate Trained | Kid Safe 12+ Poppy came to CCR from a Columbus, OH shelter. Poppy was so shut down and scared, growling and staying in the back of her kennel. A wonderful staff member spent some time with her and eventually got her out on a walk. EVERYTHING CHANGED! Poppy’s head was a little higher, her body was more relaxed, and she took some treats. Upon returning to the kennel, Poppy reverted to her previous behavior all over again. No other rescues felt comfortable taking her, but CCR saw the potential! Poppy needed an experienced foster who wouldn’t push her, but who would show her the confidence she needed to know she was going to be OK. And that’s just what we did. Look at Poppy now! She’s a 2 year old, beautiful, female, Corso who’s ready to go to her permanent home. Poppy still has some uneasiness in new situations so she would really benefit from a home with a confident handler and at least 1 other confident dog. She will also be successful in a home with children over the age of 12 years.
