Update 3.27.16: Our boy Rex is doing marvelously well…so well…that his temporary foster family has decided to continue fostering him throughout his heartworm treatment.
CCR has recently welcomed Rex into the family. This poor boy came into rescue in pretty bad shape as he was being beaten up by his siblings. They would even push him out of the food bowl so he couldn’t eat. Bullies! Rex came into rescue as an owner surrender so he has not had to feel the added hardship of a shelter but he has had hardships. Rex’s original owner (backyard breeder) left all his Corsi in his mother’s care, he was suppose to return for them but never did. He forbid her to surrender any to rescue. She did the best she could but has been very concerned about Rex’s welfare and the harsh treatment by the other dogs. (Please do not critize her as there is more to this story than we can share publically.) She eventually convinced him to ‘allow’ her to surrender Rex to CCR. Thank goodness! A local CCR volunteer is continuing to monitor the situation but for now we must focus on getting Rex into a foster home where he can begin to build his confidence and recognize that not every dog or noise is going to hurt him. He is safe but we must have an approved FOSTER by February 15, 2016. Preferred foster would be as an only dog or in a quiet home with a female. Rex is already transforming as shown in his intake and current photos. So who is willing to open their hear and home to this spectacular boy! Rex needs YOU! To make matters worse, Rex is heartworm positive so he will need to begin treatment as soon as possible.
Rex has been completely vetted, neutered, micro-chipped, and is current on flea/tic prevention. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Rex, please complete an application and we will process as quickly as possible.
