Update 5.25.15: Hi everyone! Maggie Mae here. I am in a new home with my foster Mom now (not sure what foster means but she’s a nice Mom). I have a foster brother named Dobby who is an Aussie but I don’t think he’s from Australia, and two kitty sisters called Joy and Minion. Minion likes to poke me through my crate with her paws but I just ignore her. I don’t want to scare her and I don’t mind. I slept like a very good girl last night in my crate. I wouldn’t go potty last night any time my foster Mom took me outside but at the end of the night I did go after she told me it was my last chance for the day. I ate some dinner and then we all went to bed. I got up this morning and had to potty so I let my foster Mom know and she took me out. I love the sunshine and decided to lay down at soak in some sun! A neighbor dog came out named Zander and he came to greet me. My foster Mom told the man that she didn’t want dogs to come running at me until I settled in and met everyone, but Zander was a nice dog. He wanted to play with me but foster Mom said no. Bummer! I did try to hop around with him secretly but she saw me. All the excitement of a short walk and meeting the new doggy wore me out a little. Foster Mom brought me back inside and in my crate for breakfast, but I just want to lay down and snooze for a bit. I’m tired now. They said I have a Grade 5 heart murmur, whatever that means, but I guess that explains why I get tired easily. *yawn* I’ll post a message with updates soon everyone. Thank you for helping me get into a foster home. Bye for now!
Original Post: Cane Corso Rescue would like to welcome Maggie Mae to the family. This poor girl found herself in a New Jersey kill shelter with a grade 5 heart murmur. A wonderful shelter volunteer rallied to her cause knowing her only chance would be through a rescue. The life of Maggie could not have been saved had it not been for the fabulous foster we had waiting in the wings, as Maggie is not a canadate for placement in a boarding kennel. Another fabulous volunteer is picking her up at the shelter tomorrow morning ensuring she receives her freedom ride just in the nick of time (she was due out Friday but they gave us until Sunday). Thank goodness the stars aligned for her!
Maggie Mae was evalutaed by one of our wonderful volunteers who just couldn’t say enough postive things about her. This of course was in between the kisses…this girl is a kissing angel. It was like she knew!
Maggie Mae is not yet available for adoption as we need to have further evaluation done by our vet but when she is the shelter reported she is a sweet, sweet girl who loves all people. She did well with her dog introductions as well as ignored the cat. Good girl Maggie Mae!
Maggie Mae is current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, spayed, and preventative care for flea, tick, and heartworms. She is a petite Corso only weighing 75 lbs. Aww.
