The distinguished gentleman! Luca is about 4 years old and sadly he has had to endure too much heartache in his 4 years. He was surrendered to the Shelter in June 2015, the shelter quickly adopted him out before CCR could help him. He was with a home for 10 months before they too surrendered him to the same Shelter 🙁 They stated personal reasons, but regardless poor Luca has given his heart and trust countless times to someone. Previous owners state that he is great with everyone he meets , has been with children and other animals with no problems. Does fine with strangers and is relaxed and at ease with everyone.
We have only had Luca for a few short days and this boy just melts our hearts. For all the sadness he has felt he is so sweet and loving. He craves our touch and presence, not wanting to be away from us. His little nub literally never stops wiggling. He is residing with 3 cats, a female Corso and 2 small children. ” He has a playful interest in the cats, mainly because our kitties are spunky and like to play with the dogs so they tease him into playing. They will walk right across his face and he has no reaction. He is great with our female, at ease with her. She wants him to play but it’s not his thing, he looks at her like she is crazy and walks away . I don’t think it will ever be his thing to be playful with other dogs, but he very much just wants the company and companion of other animals. He appears to be the type of dog that wants to be with his people and lay around, sun bath, be loved and, go for long walks. He has meet other male dogs and again he is relaxed and at ease, he is friendly and respectful. ”
His previous owners stated he was never crated; however, Luca is confused and anxious and we felt he needed an area that may be a calm space for him. He has taken to the crate right away, we do believe he has been crated in the past because he doesn’t bark or resist it and seems very comfortable in it. With children he is relaxed and always wiggling his butt and seeking attention, He has met other people inside and outside the home and he is friendly and greets them wiggling his butt.
He is a big boy, but he is gentle about his size, he does not jump, he does not jump on counters or even try to get on the couch. He walks great on the leash, at times he will pull but a simple correction is all he needs. He sits and listens to commends, takes treats very gentle.
He is still anxious, but getting better everyday. He is unsure of what the heck is going on and despite his sadness his heart and soul is still loving and accepting of others. He holds no anger or resentment for the humans that have failed him, he just keeps on wiggling his butt and giving kisses. It amazes us that this dog can have so much love to still give. It’s truly his TURN FOR GOOD to be loved for the rest of his life.
Luca has been completely vetted, neutered, micro-chipped, and is current on heartworm and flea/tic prevention. If you are interested in adopting Luca, please complete an application and we will process as quickly as possible.
