CCR would like to welcome Iris to the family. Boy does this girl have a story, Iris was saved by a volunteer who saw her and her 1 year old male puppy listed on Craigslist. Owner claimed he was losing his home but when CCR made contact he wasn’t willing to relinquish either Corso. We tried our best to convince him to do what was in the best interest of the dogs. He was totally uncooperative and insisted he had ‘family’ that would care for the unaltered Corsos. We of course were frantic as mom was in heat and her 1 year old male son was with her. What can we say “stupid is as stupid does”. Just when we were ready to give up, a call came in…Someone had mommy and wanted to surrender her to CCR as the owner was in JAIL! KARMA BABY! Our volunteer acted immediately and really put herself in a dangerous situation to get Iris to safety; unfortunately, the male pup is nowhere to be found. We can only hope he did not fall in the wrong hands and that he too may find his way to CCR.
I think you will agree by the photos chronicling her rescue, Iris is one special young lady. She is the gentles, kindest Corso and really shows no ill will toward the human race. It always amazes us how easily these dogs let go of the past and live in the present. Iris is one of those dogs who walked into her temporary foster’s home and acted like she had lived with them her entire life. Hard to believe as this 4 year old gal’s sole purpose in life had been to ‘crank out litter after litter so her irresponsible owner could make a few bucks to feed his ‘other’ habit. GRRR…Yep, 5 litters and she is only 4 years old…you do the math! NO MORE LITTERS FOR THIS SWEET GIRL AS SHE HAS BEEN RESCUED AND NOW WILL LIVE LIFE AS A VIABLE MEMBER OF A FAMILY. Please submit an application to adopt our sweet Iris as she is ready to receive her forever family.
Iris continues to live up to the meaning of her name as she is truly the ‘bringer of joy’ and CCR would love to have the opportunity to give her a little more joy by giving her a REAL family.
Iris is current on vaccinations and preventive care for heartworms, fleas, and ticks. She has been spayed and microchipped. So, who wants to give Iris a little joy by giving her the family she so rightfully deserves? Iris is good with children. She obviously lived with at least one other Corso but has an unknown history with cats and small animals.
