Gunner has been adopted!

CCR has recently welcomed Gunner into the family. Gunner is a 2.5 year old Cane Corso, DOB 12/22/2013.  Gunner is more than handsome and doing very well in his foster home. He is currently living with a family that has 1 other female Cane Corso who is active, happy, and playful.  It has taken both dogs some time to adjust, but now they are doing well.  He truly is a fantastic dog and everyone who meets him, loves him.

Gunner’s previous history includes living with a child under 10yrs of age.  Therefore, he will be considered for families have children (5yrs+) and possibly yonger.

Gunner has been completely vetted, micro-chipped, and is current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you are interested in adopting Gunner, please complete an application and we will process as quickly as possible.

I have left an application for Creep. Gunner would be a wonderful fit as well if you find Creep a home before considering us.

Thanks Cindy…. I am sure the team is checking out the application but it does take a little time…. you can check status under the applications tab or ping me at

Is he good with other dogs ?

Hello I have submitted my application on Gunner and was wondering if you had any other information on him. Thank you.

  4. CCR - Marianna Reply

None yet but I will check with CCR and see if a foster has been identified yet and if so, any info I can get on him.

We have filled out app as required but think Gunner would also fit well in our family! Our app would only let us select foster, but we prefer to adopt!

Not much info yet as he is still settling in. One thing I can tell you all without knowing what is in your applications, CCR’s policy is to NOT put same sex dogs together. We can’t take that chance. So if you have a male already – please consider a female. Most of these “urgent” dogs haven’t been with other dogs at all or any small ones or cats for that matter. So we have to be even more careful with placement to ensure 150% success in a forever home. marianna@CCR

Hi Marianna – There are no other animals in my household and I would consider adding a female corso later on if he does like other dogs. Do you know when I should hear back I still haven’t heard from anyone? Completely know you all are very busy, I’m just very interested in him. Thanks, Kyla

Kyla – let me check on your application. You can also do that under the applications tab. One question would be do you have bully breed experience and any small kids? I’ll check though….

Marianna – I tried to check 2 days ago on my application through the tab but haven’t heard anything back. I have had experience, I had a boxer growing up as well as a pitbull. No small kids except for friends that visit at times but nothing consistent. Kyla

It was only submitted 10 days ago…. takes a while for all the checking and reference checks etc….. we have it and working it.

He’s beautiful. Submitted my app quite awhile ago, but I do have a “dog friendly” Sphynx (:

Is he still available… I am interested.

  11. Jennifer Carballo Reply

I’m interested too and I’m in Texas (:

Jennifer – let me check the status of your application…… I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
      Thanks Marianna@CCR

Jennifer…. the application process is done and all that needs to occur is an interview with our CCR president. Not sure when she will be available or if you both have connected on that. No guarantee that you will be able to adopt a specific dog… as we try to make sure that the dog and owner are set up for 100% success. The CCR president. will discuss with you when she calls…. You might want to check out the others online so you have a #1, #2, #3 should your choices not be a good fit. Thanks for considering a Cane Corso Rescue dog! Marianna@CCR

Thanks we will keep checking! If for some reason we do not answer when you try to contact us please leave a message we normally don’t answer calls that we do not recognize and I work in a call center and cannot always answer my phone have to make calls on my breaks. Thank you for keeping us updated on the process.

    Hello! Is he available still?

  13. mathew hart Reply

Hi, I just filled out my application, gunner might be a good fit for me although I do not have any other pets, he sure is beautiful and looks ready to be spoiled. As a work from home I would be able to give him all the attention I could bring that I do not have another for him to play with.

I submitted an application for Gunner the first week of December and I’m anxiously awaiting good news. I have an 8 yo male corso who loves companionship and plays well with others. I think they will be good for each other. I’m hoping for an update on my status 🙂

Jeff – working on your application now…. One thing to note… CCR doesn’t like to place same sex dogs in the same household. Normally it is a female / male combo unless there are very special circumstances. Just a heads up after many years of doing this, CCR needs to ensure 100% success for the rescued Corso. Need to call your vet etc… so it shouldn’t be too long. You might want to look at some of the females we have to offer.

Thanks Marianna. I’m keeping my hopes up for Gunner.

Marianna, I would like to be considered for Porcia should CCR think she would be a better fit with my male Corso. Do I need to submit another application or will the one that I have already submitted be sufficient?
