Update 2.7.15: Jersey Kane has been renamed with a more fitting representation of him and the breed; he is now known as Gino! His foster mom reports, “Gino is a good dog who knows some basic commands and is very respectful of his humans. Gino even respects the cat and could care less about her. He adapted easily to his foster family and in fact acts like he has always lived here. True to the breed, Gino is by my side. He is extremely loving and beautiful, a real head turner.
Update 2.4.15: The best news ever…after sitting for 3 months in a kill shelter Jersey Kane is FREE! Tonight he spends his first night in a warm, loving home! Tomorrow he will be introduced to life on the 23 acre farm! Talk about a rags to riches story…this little guy is now living the good live because of a few special people. A special thank you to all (especially our transport angels and foster family) for helping spring this boy mid-week ensuring he didn’t need to spend another day in that shelter. Sleep well Jersey Kane you have many rescue angels by your side!
Update 2.1.15: Great news! Jersey Kane has found a fabulous foster home in New York. He is not safe yet as we have to spring him from the shelter and get him transported. We will be posting a transport request soon. Only will take 3 special transport angels to get him to his foster momma! Stay tuned in as we may need you!
Cane Corso Rescue is hoping to welcome Jersey Kane (5 years old) into the family but in order to do so we need a foster family willing to open their hearts and home to him. Jersey Kane is a munchkin compared to some but for what he lacks in size he makes up for in spirit. This poor boy has been sitting in shelter since October and we really would like to save his life but need your help to do so. Although Jersey Kane was a bit standoffish at first it didn’t take him long to open up and win the hearts of the shelter volunteers (obviously they love him dearly as it is rare that a Corso would remain in a shelter that long…good boy Jersey Kane!) One of our most trusted volunteers went to spend sometime which him and feel head over heals in love with him. She was also able to snap a few photos and a video of him.
More information will be forthcoming but for now we really need to get him into an CCR approved foster home. If you are interested in fostering Jersey Kane but haven’t yet been approved please submit and application to foster and we will process your application as soon as possible.
Information shared by shelter:
“He’s very reserved for the most part, a Good Samaritan found him wandering around a terrible part of Jersey City. He’s not interested in other dogs (from what we’ve seen), he leans into me for affection every time I take him out of his kennel and is really good on leash. He’s about 90# and very under weight”
