Update 1.9.16 NYC DEATH ROW SHELTER SURVIVOR IS SAFE IN THE ARMS OF THE CCR VILLAGE. Apollos Foster Family says, “Apollo is a male, shelter said about 2 years, but he is very puppy, so he may be a bit a younger. He appears to have had some good training, he walks well on a leash , pulls at times, but corrects with command. He knows sit, lay down, come, down. He also waits very nicely to eat, and makes his 3 second eye contact before you tell him to eat. He has been good with everyone he meets, very eager to greet people and he takes treats very gently. He loves giving kisses and cuddles to my 2 younger kids. He does well with my female, gives her the typical sniffs and allows her to guide him, he doesn’t really know the concept of play, so he is very clumsy and goofy which leads me to think he is younger than 2. He is a total sweetheart”
Original Plea from Shelter: : “A handsome credit to his breed and an absolute teddy bear who adores other dogs and snuggles up a storm with his human friends, Apollo is 90 magnificent pounds of perfection! This gentle giant won my heart the moment we met and judging by the adoring looks of staff and fellow volunteers, I’m not the only one who’s fallen under his droopy-eyed spell. So easy to handle and to love, Apollo walks fairly well on leash, comes and sits on command and takes his treats with the softest touch imaginable. He’s cool with donning a floral coat for photos and as I massage his side and jowls he leans heavily into my legs, savoring the contact and begging for more. When other dogs approach our pen Apollo trots over to say hello, tail stump madly wagging in greeting, and he seems just as politely pleasant with small dogs as large–though the squirrels in the park aren’t quite so lucky! Apollo is everything I adore about the Cane Corso temperament; goofy yet soulful, sociable and affectionate, smart, loyal and chock full of personality. If you’ve got space in your heart (and on your couch) for a whole lot of love then here is the dog you’ve been waiting for, make a date with Apollo and prepare to be swept off your feet!”
