Update 10.11.15: FANTASTIC NEWS! Our precious Ana Banana is FREE of the heartworm infection! What a story! Ana waited months for a local foster home to become available. While in the kennel, CCR was treating to kill the heartworms using the slow method of treatment and recommended resting regime. Each time we retested her she was still heartworm positive so we knew if we were going to save her life CCR was going to have to pursue the more aggressive and risky arsenic based treatment. We were so elated to find a local foster that was a vet tech and willing to foster her during her treatment…finally things were working for our Ana. So we moved her to the foster home, got her all set-up, which of course included another heartworm test to determine the next course of action. Well much to our surprise, the slow method worked…ANA IS FREE OF THE HEARTWORM INFECTION!!!! But most importantly, Ana is ready to find her FURever family. And this weekend 6 very special CCR volunteers escorted this beautiful girl to a fabulous foster home in Illinois where she will remain until her family finds her! True to the breed, Ana absolutely loves her people and would love nothing more than to make you her people. So what do you say, who would like to open their heart and home to this precious girl? She has been waiting a longtime to be healthy enough to receive the miracle of family, what do you say we give it to her before the holiday season!!!
Update 9.13.15: The news we have all been waiting for…Ana Banana has found a perfect foster home with the most fabulous family ever! We are so over the moon excited as not only are they a wonderful family but Momma is a vet tech who is willing to see Ana through her heartworm treatment. We have been treating her the slow kill method. but unfortunately, she needs the more aggressive method as those nasty varmints just aren’t dying fast enough.
Original Post: Ana Banana is in dire need of a foster home as she is heartworm positive and needs to be treated as soon as possible. Ana needs a quiet environment to reside in while she under goes the heartworm treatment. For this reason we are hoping to find a foster home in PA where she would be the only dog. Cane Corso Rescue will consider placing her in a foster home with a male dog of similar size if Ana can be kept separate during the treatment time. She is extremely heartworm positive. Ana does not do well with cats or small dogs. Because of the need for a calm, quiet home we would prefer a home with no small children. We will consider children 8 years and older. This is a desperate plea as her heartworm treatment awaits her at a vet in Jonestown, PA so we are pleading for a local foster.
Ana has often been visited by our volunteers and every single one of them adores her as the photos indicate. She is an absolute love and very well behaved. Can you please open your heart and home to Ana so we rid her of the heartworm infection? She deserves to live a happy, healthy life and unfortunately, her humans failed her miserably. BEGGING FOR A FOSTER!
